The short version: Leaner keeps your body-fat data on your device and in Apple Health. We don't run servers that collect it, we don't use third-party analytics on your health values, and we don't track you or sell anything. There's no account to create.
Leaner ("Leaner", "we", "us") is an iPhone app that tracks your body fat percentage. You can reach us any time at max@leaner.health.
Health data is used solely to provide the app's features on your device: computing your smoothed trend, projecting your goal date, awarding milestones and streaks, powering widgets, and writing back readings you add. It is processed on-device and is never sold, shared, or used for advertising or tracking. We do not use HealthKit data for marketing, and we never share it with third parties.
Leaner integrates with Apple Health under Apple's rules. You control access in the Health app at any time (Health → Sharing → Apps), and you can revoke Leaner's read or write access whenever you like. Data you delete in Apple Health propagates to the app.
Leaner+ subscriptions and the lifetime option are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your card details. Your subscription status is determined on-device via Apple's StoreKit. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles purchases.
If you enable them, Leaner schedules local notifications on your device (a daily reminder, milestone nudges, and a weekly recap). These are generated on your device; no notification content is sent through our servers.
We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your personal or health data to anyone. Because we don't collect it on a server, there is nothing for us to transfer internationally.
Your readings live in Apple Health and on your device. Deleting the Leaner app removes its local copy and settings. Your Apple Health data is managed by you in the Health app. To delete readings Leaner wrote to Health, remove them in the Health app.
Leaner is rated 4+ but is intended for general audiences managing their own fitness; it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them (we don't collect personal data at all).
Depending on where you live (e.g., UK GDPR, EU GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights over your personal data. Since Leaner does not collect or hold your personal data on our servers, most requests are satisfied directly on your device and in Apple Health. If you have any question, email max@leaner.health.
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and post the new version here. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or on this site.
